Getting Started

Create your MyRoomie account, complete your profile, and find your first matches - whether you are looking to live, to work, or to move for work.

This guide walks through the first hour on MyRoomie: creating an account, building a profile the matching engine can work with, and choosing the route that fits what you actually need.

Create your account

Open MyRoomie and choose Get Started. You can register with:

  • Email and password
  • A connected account - Google, Facebook, GitHub or LinkedIn

Accounts, sessions and password resets are handled by our authentication provider, so you can link several sign-in methods to the same account later under Account → Security.

Choose your market and language

Every page lives under a market (the country you are searching in) and a language. MyRoomie is configured for EU27+UK - 29 markets - in 23 languages, and the language picker in the navigation bar switches both.

Pick the market you are searching in, not the one you currently live in: listings, pricing and local guidance are all market-scoped.

Complete your profile

A complete profile is what the matching engine has to work with. Include:

Personal details

  • Name, photo and a short introduction
  • Occupation or study status
  • Languages you speak

Housing preferences

  • Budget range and preferred move-in date
  • Locations and neighbourhoods you are considering
  • Room or property type

Lifestyle compatibility

  • The lifestyle quiz - routines, cleanliness, guests, noise, sleep schedule
  • The optional MBTI-style personality assessment

Why the lifestyle questions matter

The matching engine weighs 50+ lifestyle signals from your profile. Skipping the quiz does not block you from searching, but it does mean compatibility scores are based on far less information.

Verify your identity

Identity verification is what keeps the community trustworthy. Go to Verify Identity in your dashboard to complete it. Verified profiles get more responses, and some listings and operator features require verification.

Choose your route

Live - find a place to live

  • Find Rooms - search verified rooms and apartments with detailed filters
  • Find Flatmates - match with people by lifestyle and routine, not just budget
  • Buddy Ups - coordinate a shared move, costs and timelines as a group
  • Community - local groups and trusted social circles in your market
  • Students - listings and resources scoped to university life
  • Safety Hub - safety signals, neighbourhood context and guidance

Work - find a place to work

  • Coworking - desks, private offices and meeting spaces
  • Manage Properties - portfolios, units and occupancy for owners and operators
  • Analytics - performance and occupancy trends for managers
  • Enterprise - housing and workspace capabilities for organizations

Move for Work - move with support

  • How It Works - the end-to-end walkthrough of a relocation on the platform
  • Start - a guided setup for your move
  • Relocations - employee housing and relocation coordination for HR teams
  • Pricing - packages, so you can pick the plan that fits the move

Connect and decide

Once you have matches:

  1. Message securely - conversations stay inside the platform until you choose otherwise.
  2. Check the profile - look for the verification badge and shared interests.
  3. Schedule a viewing - arrange it through the listing rather than off-platform.
  4. Book - confirm the arrangement, with support available at each step.

Keep it on the platform

Report anything that feels wrong with the reporting tools on every profile and listing. Never send a deposit outside the platform's booking flow.
